Dr Sarah Childs

Counselling Psychologist

Sarah is an HCPC-registered and BPS-chartered Counselling Psychologist at Sysi. She has extensive experience across both the private and public sectors and supports adults and young people with a wide range of emotional difficulties and life challenges.

As an integrative practitioner, Sarah draws on different evidence-based approaches to meet each client’s individual needs. Her work is anchored in relational psychodynamic principles, helping clients explore how earlier experiences and relationship patterns continue to shape their current lives. She also incorporates more structured, practical, and solution-focused methods where helpful, including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Compassion Focused Therapy (CFT).

Sarah supports clients with a wide range of issues, with particular expertise in anxiety, low mood, self-esteem difficulties, relationship issues, heartbreak, identity questions, life transitions, existential concerns, ADHD-related challenges, grief and bereavement, burnout, women’s health, and trauma.

She offers a reflective, collaborative, and supportive environment where clients can explore their experiences free from external pressures. With the therapeutic relationship at its core, Sarah tailors her approach and pace to each individual, fostering a compassionate, non-judgmental space that supports self-understanding, healing, and meaningful change.
